Winemaker - Chris Luby
Chris is a native Oregonian who understands the unique terroir of the Willamette Valley and its Jory soils.
After graduating from the University of Oregon, Chris spent 12 years in corporate America before getting bitten by the winemaking bug. He has been the Cherry Hill winemaker since the winery was built in 2003, and several of his wines have been rated 90+ points in Wine Spectator.
Says Chris ‘My goal is to craft Pinot Noir in the traditional Burgundian style and let the distinct terroir of our estate fruit show its flavor. Our handcrafted wines are aged in neutral oak and are a delicate light style. We are minimalist oak vintners that love to let our fruit show the outstanding natural flavors of our three distinct clones, multiple Jory soils, and varying elevations in the vineyard.’

Vineyard Manager - Ken Cook
After 16 years as an aircraft mechanic, Ken Cook realized a career change was in order. Ken’s appreciation for wine brought him and his wife, Kerrie, all the way from Anchorage, Alaska to Oregon’s Willamette Valley to begin a new life in the wine industry. Ken began his new career with Chemeketa College’s wine making and viticulture program, and has brought his knowledge of cutting edge techniques and practices to Cherry Hill as our Vineyard Manager and an assistant to our winemaker. With his education in enology and viticulture, as well as 13 years of home brewing and winemaking experience, Ken is a fine addition to Cherry Hill’s production team.

Winery Owners - Mike and Jan Sweeney
Mike and Jan Sweeney have spent many years and much effort seeking outstanding Pinot Noirs. They have pursued the holy grail of Pinot Noir in France, California, New Zealand and Oregon.
In 1998, after several visits to the Willamette Valley of Oregon, they purchased the undeveloped 150-acre vineyard that is now the home of Cherry Hill Winery and Vineyard.
Over the past several years the Sweeneys have toiled to create a world-class winery and vineyard in the Amity/Eola Hills of the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The view of the vineyards, coastal range, and sunsets are as romantic as the wines we produce.
